The Republic of Cameroon is endowed with rich mineral resources. Geological exploration and prospecting activities carried out between 1933 to present revealed the existence of several geochemical anomalies and occurrences of mineral substances. The development of some of these geochemical anomalies and occurrences, led to the discoveries of economic exploitable mineral deposits. However, many attractive anomalies are still underdeveloped. The exploration for and/or mining of these identified deposits is economic and attractive to both foreign and national “junior” and “major” investors.
At least fifty two (52) types of mineral resources have been highlighted to date. Each type has the following mining targets, while considering as mining target, each mineral occurrence already detected, from the geochemical anomalies as deposits, passing through indices and significant indices.
This means the prospect of finding exploitable deposits, appears certain. The above mentioned areas are subject to several exploration licences and small scale mechanized exploitation authorizations (granted by the government of Cameroon) covering them.
